Wireless Video Surveillance, Challenge or Opportunity? Critical Success Factors in Real-time Wireless Video Surveillance Initiatives and Deployment

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Raphael Lignier, Firetide

Using real-world examples based on Chicago(USA) and Peñíscola (Spain) deployments, this session will deliver insights into policy, technology, funding, and deployment issues facing security directors, law enforcement professionals, and security systems integrators when implementing a wireless surveillance network to secure business operations, improve situational awareness, and protect property, employees, and the public.

Improving application performance - Problems and solutions for mobile applications

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Andy de Clerck, Geode Networks Europe Ltd

Organisations of all sizes have to overcome many problems, including poor application performance, often the finger is pointed at insufficient bandwidth when providing services to remote sites and mobile workers. By understanding the performance requirements of applications between data centres, remote offices and mobile workers, we can start to give users the data access and performance they expect.

Wireless mesh for security, video-surveillance and industrial applications

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Umberto Malesci, Fluidmesh Networks, Inc.

Case Studies: Venice Industrial Seaport, Harvard University Overseas Campus – Florence Italy, Abu Dhabi Airport and City of Como, Italy

Mesh-based wireless industrial and video-surveillance systems are becoming very successful due to the incredible advantages that the mesh topology offers in terms of flexibility and reliability compared to traditional point-to-point solutions. The presentation will go over real case studies of mesh based systems for industrial seaports, airports, city councils and university campus, showing what the advantages of mesh networks are and how it is possible to design a network in very different scenarios.

Unwiring Heathrow Terminal 5: A Case Study

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Roger Hockaday, Aruba Networks, EMEA

Under the largest single span roof in Europe lies one of the largest retail environments in the UK, an 18km labyrinth of industrial conveyors, and pass 30 million passengers a year. When BAA needed to deliver mobile point of sale, commission a modern industrial operation and deliver Public Internet access, how did they choose a Wireless LAN? What were their decision criteria, and how did they implement it?

The emerging threat of Wireless Malware

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Ken Munro, SecureTest

Viruses, worms and Trojans can all be theoretically carried by WiFi and propagated from one wireless laptop to another without the need for a physical network connection. Wireless malware is a brand new concept and is likely to seriously affect the way that mobile users interact, the security policies that companies adopt with regards to mobile working, and the way we all view WiFi. This presentation will show the physical way in which this type of attack can be perpetrated over a real network connection and offer advice on what to look out for and on how to mitigate this threat. A live hack attack will form part of this presentation.

Best practices for wireless network security

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

Peter Mackenzie, Marquest

Wireless network security has become a minefield of acronyms and solutions which can be confusing and seemingly complex. We have WEP, WPA, WPA-PSK, 802.11i, AES, TKIP, LEAP, PEAP, TLS and TTLS security systems - which solution do you pick? We have all heard that WEP is insecure and many people will have read articles on LEAP and WPA-PSK security cracks. So what solutions can and should we implement? In this fast-paced session we will look at the latest wireless network penetration techniques. PEAP is now a predominant technology in wireless security, and we will see how to implement a secure network using PEAP, avoiding some weaknesses recently discovered. We will investigate how to plan wireless security, carry out security audits and how to deploy tools to protect against network security attacks.

How to safeguard the mobile knowledge worker

Wireless Security and Management Theatre

John Kennedy, AdaptiveMobile

As more and more employees work outside the office, they need access to valuable data on their laptops and other portable devices from public wireless networks. There are many emerging threats including data theft and unintended abuse. This session will show how to implement centrally controlled privacy and how to create an integrated mobile data security and management solution to safeguard information on laptops, mobile phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices.
