FWA Solutions commission Welsh Assembly Government Hotspot System
FWA Solutions have commissioned a new multi level management and billing hotspot system for the @Wales Digital Media Initiative, part of the Welsh Assembly Government, to manage the Intelligent Cities hotspot network and future network roll outs. The centralised system allows users of the system at any level on the network, which spans ten locations in Cardiff, to access broadband services and be allocated broadband capacity and use according to their requirements. The system also provides a suitable platform to allow future users to gain broadband access from the network. Access can be controlled with the ability for billing the services by account, by session or as required by the user or organisation.
FWA Solutions’ Managing Director, David Penny, explained “The Spark billing systems we supplied had to be flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of users from regular accounts to ad-hoc users that visit the network. The @Wales team also needed the functionality to provide a centralised control system to manage users with the external interfaces to support the many different ways of purchasing usage. This system allows the network to offer future growth on a commercially sustainable model.” James Davies, Project Manager for the Intelligent Cities Initiative network added: “After considering the alternatives, we chose the FWA Solutions/Spark billing solution because we felt it had the power, flexibility, scalability and feature set we were looking for, backed up by an excellent support package"
