The Ins and Outs of “The New Wireless Enterprise Network”: What you need to know about 802.11n

Wireless Infrastructure and Devices Theatre

Rachna Ahlawat, Meru Networks

Wireless LAN is a rapidly growing area of technical interest that most enterprises are now considering as part of their strategic IT portfolio. But with so many different approaches to the WLAN performance improvements, so many vendors, and a wide variety of claims, how do enterprises sort through the mess to find out what is really right for their organization? This session covers the key considerations for enterprises looking at The Next Generation of Wireless Networks, standards and performance improvement solutions. The session will include the standards that are coming down the pipeline in this area? What will these solutions do for you in the future? And why you need to stop, think and deploy 802.11n network differently?

Simplifying Control in Next Generation Enterprise WLAN Architectures

Wireless Infrastructure and Devices Theatre

Adam Conway, Aerohive Networks, Inc.

Wireless is increasingly embraced as a critical part of the network but can suffer from performance bottlenecks, points of failure and latency. As enterprises look to support voice over WLAN and increase WLAN performance with 802.11n, these issues can be magnified which is leading the industry to re-examine the use of today's centralised WLAN architectures. What options are available to eliminate poor performance issues while providing the management, mobility and security enterprises need for their next generation WLANs?

Deploying a free high-speed urban wireless network

Wireless Infrastructure and Devices Theatre

Philippe Costard, Brussels Regional Information Center

Deploying a free high-speed urban wireless network totally covering a large city as a means to close the digital divide is an issue that many cities are presently examining. But such an ambitious target raises many questions regarding the choice of the right technology, legal constraints regarding the European free market and the costs and benefits. The Brussels Region has recently undertaken experiments with the concept by deploying the largest free access Wi-Fi area in Belgium covering a whole university campus. The next step is to extend that network to the whole Brussels region.

Next Generation Wi-Fi Networks – Designed for Speed: The Impact of 802.11n on Existing Networks and Applications

Wireless Infrastructure and Devices Theatre

Roger Hockaday, Aruba Networks, EMEA

With the 802.11n ‘high speed’ Wi-Fi standard likely to be ratified within the next 12 months, what are the implications for the enterprise? Will user-demand force a rip-and-replace of existing wireless networks, or can clients and infrastructure gently migrate? Will 802.11n signal the beginning of ‘wireless’ buildings or simply allow better connectivity to applications?
